Cape Wind Cape Cod Windfarm Met Mast Tripod Pile Foundation Scour Protection

Project Description:

Specially Designed SSCS Frond Mats were installed in 2005, as shown in the Deployment Plan, at the South East Pile of the Cape Cod Met Mast Tripod Support Structure in approx: 5.5mwd.

Cape Cod Wind Farm Site is located in Horseshoe Shoal 25km from the town of Nantucket off the east coast USA in water depths that range from approx: 1.8 to 18.6metres. It is exposed to currents that frequently measure 1.0m/s, to breaking waves, and has a dynamic sandy seabed.

The above still photograph taken from the post installation survey during October 2007 shows the successful application and effectiveness of the Mats with a build-up of sedimentation providing a stable protective sand bank.
